Description:

A perfect blend of contemporary and rustic is presented in this tastefully decorated holiday villa in Sovalye Island, Fethiye. This exceptional rental villa in Fethiye, Turkey offers superb views and tranquil settings for the more discerning. Villa Augustyn, a perfect location, sometimes, you just know when something is right.

In the words of Mrs. White "after searching throughout Europe for a perfect waterfront location for a holiday home, we were taken to Sovalye Island in the Gulf of Fethiye and knew at once we had found the perfect place to realise our vision".

Mrs. White continues - "we were looking for sea-front line position, a stunning view, somewhere you could wake up to the sound of the sea, swim from the property in clear water, enjoy wonderful weather and even fish from our own jetty. Sovalye offered all of this and more. The Island is close to Fethiye (15 mins by boat) which is an all-year-round working town full of restaurants, bars, good shops and a lively fishing and boating centre. The history of the Island is not well documented, but takes its name from the Knights (Sovalye = Chevalier) of St John who occupied the Island its believed sometime in the 15th century. There are still many archeological relics dotted about the Island – remnants of houses, wall, mosaics even the remains of a crusader castle.

The villa is rented out at £2,600 per week up to 4 guests and £200 for each additional guest up to a maximum of 8. Rental fee includes airport transfers to/from Dalaman airport, twice a day complimentary boat service to / from Fethiye mainland, a welcome basket and also services of our dedicated island representative should you require assistance with any arrangements such as sailing trips, shopping trips, etc.

There are approximately 70 houses on Sovalye and with no roads or cars the Island can be covered on foot in around a 30 min stroll. You may bump into the odd wild tortoise or local chicken and gazing out to sea turtles and dolphins are often sighted. In spring the meandering paths around the Island are covered in wild flowers with heady scents from the orange trees and bougainvillea. In summer, the peace is broken only by the cicadas and ocean breeze rustling through the trees.

Having found the perfect location, we worked with an award-winning UK architect Robin Haddow to take full advantage of the available plot. The design is contemporary with large curved tinted windows occupying one whole corner of the house, within which sits a feature black marble, curved staircase leading all the way to the second floor. There are three en-suite bedrooms with balconies on the first floor and on the second floor a master bedroom/bathroom/dressing room/office room with a dramatic full length roof terrace looking out to sea and in one corner a day-bed strewn with Ottoman-style cushions.

The ground floor is open plan apart from a cloakroom and utility room and from the dining area and lounge three large glass doors open onto a full length terrace which sits above an infinity swimming pool. The kitchen is well equipped and has all modern appliances.

Outside there is a large barbecue and below the infinity pool a vast decked terrace and sun loungers and a shady pergola for outdoor dining. The rattan seating at the end of the pergola are perfectly positioned for spectacular sunsets or just gazing out to sea watching the fishermen or sailing boats ply their trade.

Landscaped terraces and lit steps lead down to a small private beach area with a jetty.

'A' is for Augustyn – my father’s Christian name. A name both romantic and ancient that evokes a sense of harmony within this historical island."
